–“The Man in the Shroud” is the Reason for the Season –

In October 1978, 30 researchers, photographic experts, and scientists from all fields gathered in Turin, Italy, to examine what many considered the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. This first-of-a-kind multidisciplinary team featured the best and the brightest, nearly all of whom were skeptics who believed they would get a free trip to Italy after quickly proving it was a painted forgery. However, that was not their conclusion, and their Research Project began nearly fifty years of continuous scientific examination, making it the most scientifically studied Christian relic in history.
The Shroud of Turin is a 14.5-foot-by-3-foot cloth displaying properties and characteristics that have never been duplicated by the many skeptics who have tried. Though many debate its authenticity, a sincere examination of the Shroud leaves everyone, skeptics and believers alike, with a greater understanding of daily life in Israel during the first century. Central Methodist Church is proudly hosting an eight-day historical and educational exhibit, “The Man in the Shroud,” in Denton, NC, from November 8-15, 2026. The exhibit is a multimedia examination of the Shroud, intended to help visitors gain a fuller understanding of its history and impact on Church culture.
The exhibit is free of charge! Donations can be made to the Shroud organization, which funds the exhibit, and we will also accept donations for our local South Davidson Family Resource Center.
Everyone is welcome, and Spanish-language materials are available as well. This exhibit is non-denominational and sponsored by local businesses and organizations.
